Yudith Lis Corrales Rodríguez

My name is Yudith Lis Corrales Rodríguez, born on January 15, 2008, in Havana, Cuba, and a naturalized Dominican citizen for the past three years.

I arrived in the Dominican Republic in 2015 at the age of seven, and for as long as I can remember, I have been part of the distinguished Dominican Joe School, where I have developed my values ​​and been encouraged to become who I am today. I am honored to receive the Dominican Joe Student Award, the highest distinction given only to the school's top student.

Throughout my academic life, I have distinguished myself as a responsible, respectful, and dedicated student; my record attests to this. It's worth mentioning that I've also participated in School Olympiads such as the Spanish Language Olympiad, the Natural Sciences Olympiad, and the Social Sciences Olympiad. The most recent was the Spanish Language Olympiad, where I advanced to the Regional Stage and was named an honorary participant, placing second.

Currently, I'm competing in the Model United Nations within the Educational Leadership Club (Celider, 14-07. PLERD). I've advanced to the regional stage, winning awards at both the school and district levels, demonstrating my outstanding and dedicated approach. This experience fosters my leadership and critical thinking skills, strengthening my ability to manage diverse situations and propose feasible solutions. I consider this crucial for academic success and my development as a citizen.

Similarly, I have focused on acquiring knowledge outside of my academic institution, studying foreign languages ​​(specifically English) at Ideas English School, where I was also awarded Most Advanced Student of the Year. This demonstrates my strong interest in learning and setting future goals, as I seek not only personal growth but also to make a positive impact on my community.

I am part of a family of five; I live with both my parents and two siblings. One of them is pursuing a university degree at UAPA in Santo Domingo. Due to the demands of his studies, my father covers all his expenses and ours as well, since he is the sole provider for our household because my mother is in delicate health and unable to work. Our arrival in a foreign country has not been easy, as we started from scratch, a family dedicated to hard work and getting ahead.

My dream has always been to become a forensic pathologist, to contribute to justice and the search for truth. To achieve this, I must study medicine as the first and most important step.

My desire to make a difference, to be and contribute something important to society, has made me understand that I need a solid foundation. Therefore, I commit to remaining steadfast, as I have been until now, honoring my dreams, my educational institution, and above all, my family.
